Sayyad General Store

Sayyad General Store sits right across from the Head Post Office in Juna Bazar. This part of Aurangabad always feels like it’s moving, with people coming and going from the post office all day. Juna Bazar has that old-world feel to it, and our shop fits right in. It’s not a big place, just a small store filled with everyday items that folks in the neighborhood need. I spend my days behind the wooden counter, usually sipping tea and waiting for the next person to walk through the door. We don't have a computer or any high-tech systems here. Everything is done by hand, and I keep a notebook to track what we need to order. Sometimes I forget to write things down, and we run out of something popular, which is always a bit of a headache. The shelves are piled high with all sorts of things, and sometimes a stack of papers or boxes might lean a bit too much. It’s a bit cramped, especially when more than two people are inside at the same time. But the people around Juna Bazar are patient. They know us and we know them. We’ve been here through many summers and monsoons, watching the rain come down on the post office roof. It’s just an honest way to make a living, serving the people who live and work around here every day. We don't need much more than that. We often stay open late during the busy months of the year when the market is full.
