Sakshi Kirana Store

Sakshi Kirana Store is located on Chwani Road, very close to the Barapulla Gate. Being a kirana shop means we deal mostly with the stuff people eat every day. We have large sacks of rice and different kinds of dal stacked up against the back wall. In the morning, the smell of fresh supplies is quite strong when we open the doors. The street outside can get quite dusty, so we are always wiping down the glass jars where we keep the loose items like spices and sugar. Most of our customers are people from the nearby houses who come to get their monthly groceries or just a handful of ingredients they need for a specific meal. We write things down in our books if people are in a hurry. It is a simple way of running things that has worked for us for a long time. Aurangabad can be a busy city, but this little corner feels familiar and calm. We see the kids growing up, coming in first for candy and then later for school supplies or household items for their own families. The shelves are a bit crowded, and sometimes we have to move three things to find the one someone asked for. It isn't a supermarket; it’s just a neighborhood store where you can talk while you wait for your items to be weighed and packed. We stay open until late evening because there is always someone who realizes they are out of cooking oil right as the sun goes down.
