Our place is up on the 4th floor of Shri Kandhenu Estate. If you’re driving past the Tangent furniture showroom in Chincholi Bunder, you’re basically right there. Being in Malad West means there’s always a lot of traffic, especially around our end of the road. Royal Cushion Vinyl Products Ltd. has been operating out of this building for a long stretch. It’s a lot of stairs if the lift is feeling grumpy that day, which happens more often than we’d like. Up here, we handle a lot of vinyl stuff. The warehouse space gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes off the coast. It’s not a corporate office with suits and ties. Most of us are in jeans just moving rolls of material around or sitting at old desks piled with paperwork. We know the security guard at the gate downstairs pretty well by now. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the entrance to the estate, and we have to go down and help sort out the mess. It's just the way things go in this part of town. We’ve got a small lunch area where we all sit together and complain about the commute. It’s a simple setup, nothing too flashy. We just focus on getting the vinyl out to whoever needs it and making sure the inventory counts are mostly right. We’ve been here so long the walls could probably tell stories.
