Ashna Optical And Surfacing

We are located at City Chowk in Rangar Galli, within the Ramnas Pura area of Srirangam. Ashna Optical And Surfacing is a place where we spend most of our hours hunched over lenses and frames. The shop isn't very large, and the back where the surfacing happens is always a bit damp from the grinding machines. We have glasses on display in the front, but the real work happens in the back room. Rangar Galli is a narrow street and it gets very crowded during the festivals. Sometimes it’s hard for people to even get to our door because of the crowds. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shopkeepers on the block. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment, just the stuff that has worked for us for years. The floor has some stains from the polishing compound that won't come out, but that’s just how it goes in this trade. We don't try to act like we're a big chain. We're just local people who know how to fix and make glasses. Every lens takes time to get right, so we don't rush the process. It's a steady job and we appreciate the folks who come back to see us whenever their vision changes. It's just a regular day at the shop for us. We keep the lights on and wait for the next person who needs a pair of spectacles. It can get a little noisy when the machines are all running.
