Raj Kirana

My family started Raj Kirana a while ago. We sit right here on Jalna Road in Sultanpur, just near the bus stop at Shivaji Chowk. Most people stop by when they’re waiting for the bus or coming home from work. It’s a busy spot but we like it that way. We keep the usual things people need like rice, dal, oil, and soap. Sometimes we run out of things if the truck is late, but we try to keep the shelves full for the neighbors. It’s mostly just us working here every day from morning until late evening. The shop isn't very big but we know where everything is. People come in to chat for a bit while they get their groceries. We’ve seen kids grow up around here and now they come in to buy stuff for their own houses. Sultanpur has changed a lot over the years but Shivaji Chowk stays pretty much the same. We don't have fancy signs or anything like that. Just a simple shop for the local folks. We get our stock from the main market and try to keep the prices fair so people keep coming back. It gets dusty with the traffic on Jalna Road, so we spend a lot of time cleaning. That's pretty much how it goes here every day. We open early because the bus stop gets busy at sunrise. If you live nearby, you probably already know us. I usually sit at the counter while my brother helps with the heavy bags and the inventory in the back room. We have a small wooden bench outside where the older men sometimes sit and talk about the news.
