Bombay Al-Fab

Bombay Al-Fab is tucked away on Madarsa Road, not too far from where the Gupta Cinema Hall used to be. That cinema is still a big landmark for everyone around here, even if things have changed over the years. Our shop is a busy place where we do a lot of fabrication work, mostly with aluminum. If you walk past during the day, you’ll definitely hear the noise of the machines and the sound of metal being cut. It’s not a clean or quiet place to work, but it’s where we get things made. We have a small crew of guys who are really good with their hands and have been doing this kind of work for a long time. The shop floor is usually covered in metal shavings and various tools, but there’s a system to the mess. We don't have a website or do any kind of advertising. Most of our work comes from people in the neighborhood or local contractors who know we can build what they need. We spend a lot of time looking at hand-drawn sketches and trying to figure out how to put things together. The shop gets pretty hot when we are doing a lot of welding, so we try to keep the fans going as much as possible. It’s a simple, hardworking life. We just focus on getting the pieces finished for the people who ordered them without any delay.
