Amit Kirana Store

Kanchali is a very quiet village compared to the city. Our store is right near the Government Prathmik School. You can hear the kids shouting and playing during their break time every morning. It is in the Nanded district. Isnapur Circle is the main landmark around here where the buses stop. I open the Amit Kirana Store early before the sun gets too hot. We sell basic things like grains, oil, sugar, and soap. A lot of the villagers come here after they finish working in the fields. The school teachers also stop by sometimes for small items or snacks. It is a small room with simple wooden shelves. I have lived in Kanchali for a long time. The dust from the road settles on the jars of candy, so I have to wipe them down with a cloth often. It is not a fancy supermarket. Just a local shop where everyone knows each other’s names. Sometimes I sit on a stool outside when there are no customers. The Isnapur Circle gets a bit busy on market days when people come from other villages. Nanded is a long drive away if you need anything from the big city. Life moves slow here. I use an old paper ledger to keep track of things. The tin roof makes a lot of noise when it rains. I usually close up for a few hours in the afternoon for a nap. It is a good way to live.
