We are located over at Alok Kumar’s place right on Collectory Road in Auraiya. It is a very busy area because of all the government offices nearby, so there are always people moving about and motorbikes parked everywhere you look. We spend our days dealing with impex work, which basically means we are always on the phone with suppliers or talking to the truck drivers about their schedules. The office itself is quite basic, with just some sturdy chairs and a heavy wooden desk where we keep all the ledgers and records. Auraiya is a decent enough town to work in, though the road gets really muddy and difficult when the monsoon rains start. We have been in this spot for a while now and we know pretty much everyone who has a shop on this stretch. If someone needs to find us, they usually just ask the tea seller or the guys at the corner, and they point them right here. We do not bother with any flashy advertisements or big signs. Most of our work comes from people we have known for years. Some days are quite slow and we just sit and talk about the news, while other days we are working late into the night to finish the paperwork for a big shipment. It is a simple and honest way to make a living in this part of Uttar Pradesh. We just keep our heads down and handle the trade as it comes in.
