Krishan Brick Field

We run Krishan Brick Field out in the village of Sahayal. Our post office is also right here in Sahayal, so we are well-integrated into the local community. The life of a brick field is tied very closely to the land. We use the soil from around here and the workers are all from the nearby areas. It’s a big part of how the village stays busy. Most of our days are spent out in the open, regardless of whether it's cold or boiling hot. The bricks need time to dry in the sun before they go into the kiln, so we are always watching the sky for rain clouds. If it starts pouring, everyone has to run out and cover the rows. It’s a bit chaotic but we're used to it. We don't have a marketing department or any brochures to hand out. Word of mouth is how we get our customers. People in the village know that if they are starting a project, they can come down to the field and see what we have ready. We aren't trying to be the biggest around, just a reliable place for people in Sahayal to get what they need for their walls and homes. The bricks are honest and so is the work. It’s a hard way to earn a living but it feels good to see the houses in the village built with the stuff we made right here in our own Sahayal fields.
