Chaitanya Residencial School

Being right on the Main Road in Nagnur, we see a lot of traffic passing by, but once you step inside the gates, it’s its own little world. Mudalgi is a busy area, and being a residential school means there are people here twenty-four hours a day. The dormitories are usually a bit messy because, well, they are full of kids who aren't always great at folding their clothes. In the evenings, you can smell the food cooking in the mess hall from all the way across the yard. It’s usually something simple like dal and rice. We have a large open area where the students play after their classes are done for the day. Gokak and Belgaum are nearby, so we get visitors and parents stopping by on weekends, which makes the front gate area quite crowded with parked bikes and cars. The school itself is built for function, not for looks. We have sturdy desks and heavy doors that have seen a lot of use over the years. Staff members live on-site too, so we’re always around if something breaks or if a student feels a bit homesick at night. It’s a lot of responsibility looking after people’s children like this, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of it. The lights go out at a certain time, and then the whole place finally gets quiet until the morning whistle blows again.
