Tarapore & Company

Tarapore & Company is located on N.R.R. Road in the Railpar area. We are right in Asansol, near the P.O. there. It’s a busy part of town because of the railway influence. You can often hear the trains shunting in the distance. Our building is an older one on the main road. It has a lot of character, even if the paint is peeling in some corners. We don't have a lot of space, but we use every inch. The desks are covered in folders and ledgers. We do most of our business through phone calls and people dropping by. It’s a very manual process. We don't really use computers for everything because the power can be a bit unreliable on N.R.R. Road. We like the old ways of doing things at Tarapore & Company. There’s a small shop next door where we get our biscuits and tea. The street outside is always full of rickshaws and people walking to the station. It can be quite loud, but you get used to the rhythm of it. We have a small staff. Everyone knows their job. We don't have meetings; we just talk across the room. It saves a lot of time. Sometimes the roof leaks a tiny bit when the monsoon is very heavy, so we have to move the desks around. It’s just one of those things you deal with. We’ve been in Asansol for years and know the area very well.
