Sisters Masala Grah Udyog

Sisters Masala Grah Udyog is located over in Durga Nagar at Plot No. C-291. We are right near the Ukhra RO water plant, which is a good landmark for people who haven't visited before. This started out as a small thing at home, and it’s still pretty much like that. We spend our days drying spices in the sun when the weather is good and grinding them when it’s not. There are several of us working together, mostly family and a few neighbors. The house always smells like roasted cumin or cardamom. It’s a busy place, especially before the big festivals when everyone wants fresh masala for their cooking. We don't have a big factory or anything. We use small machines and do a lot of the packing by hand at the kitchen table. Sometimes the kids run through while we are working, so we have to keep an eye on everything. We sell to the local shops and people who stop by the gate. We don't use any preservatives or weird stuff, just the spices we buy from the market and clean ourselves. It’s hard work on your arms and back, but we like being our own bosses. It’s just a simple neighborhood business trying to make something good for the local kitchens and families around here. We just keep our heads down and keep the grinding stones turning as long as we have to.
