About Radhe Shyam Singh – Agriculture & Farming in Asansol
I’m based out of Palasan in the Shyamsundar area of Purba Burdwan. My name is Radhe Shyam Singh, and this is my small operation. It’s mostly just me and a couple of helpers from the village. We work out of a space that’s been part of my family for a long time. Purba Burdwan is a quiet place for the most part, though things get busy during the harvest seasons. I don't have a fancy office or a receptionist. If you want to talk to me, you usually have to find me out back or at the local market. I deal with basic commodities and help move goods from one place to another. The records are kept in a drawer in my old wooden desk. It’s not a high-tech business, but it’s honest work. The walls in the shop could use a fresh coat of paint, and the roof leaks a tiny bit when the rain is really heavy, but we manage. I’ve lived in Palasan all my life, so I know just about everyone who walks past the door. People stop by to chat about the weather or the price of grain. I don't use any marketing tricks. I just provide what I have and try to be fair with everyone. It’s a slow pace of life here, and that’s exactly how I like it.
