Kishan Store

Kishan Store is situated right in the heart of Kajora Gram, which is a busy little spot in the Ondal area of Burdwan. We are very close to the Kajora Gram Railway Station, so we hear the trains whistling and the announcements over the speakers all through the day. It is a good place for a shop because there are always people walking back and forth from the station. We opened this store to provide the basic things that people in the village need for their daily lives. You won't find any shiny tiles or bright neon lights here. It is just a regular shop with wooden shelves and sacks of goods sitting on the floor. We spend our time weighing out items, chatting with the commuters, and making sure we have what the farmers need for their work. The air is often filled with the smell of grains and the dust from the road outside. We don't have a website or a big advertising budget. Word of mouth is how people know about us. Sometimes the shop gets very crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work, and it can be a bit chaotic. We just try to serve everyone as fast as we can. It is hard work, standing on our feet all day, but it is what we know. We are just a part of the daily routine here in Kajora and we like it that way.
