Anpurna Rice Mill

Our mill is located in Punpun village and it sits right near National Highway 83 which makes it easy for the big trucks to pull in and out. The machines are almost always running and the sound of the husking can be heard from quite a distance away. It is a very dusty environment and we all end up covered in a fine white powder by the time the shift is over. Being in the district like this means we see a lot of raw grain coming straight from the fields nearby. We have to maintain the equipment ourselves most of the time which involves a lot of grease and some occasional swearing when things get stuck. The office is just a small room partitioned off from the main milling floor so it is never really quiet in there. We don't have a website or any of that stuff because people just drive up the highway when they see the mill working. Sometimes the weather makes the ground outside very muddy and the trucks get stuck but we just dig them out and keep going. It is heavy work and your back starts to ache after a few hours of moving those heavy loads around. We are just a local mill doing the basic work of processing the grain so it can be sent off to the markets.
