Five Star

Five Star is situated at 109 South Street, directly opposite the post office. It’s a very easy place to find because the post office is a major landmark here. We have been at this location for quite a few years now. The building is older, with high ceilings and those big old-fashioned doors. We don’t do anything too fancy at Five Star. We just provide what the local people need and try to be helpful when someone walks in. It’s a small operation, usually just a couple of us here at any given time. We spend a lot of our day just managing the stock and talking to the people who drop by. Because we are right on South Street, there’s a lot of foot traffic, especially in the mornings when people are heading to the post office to mail letters or collect their pensions. We often hear the noise from the street, but it’s a friendly kind of noise. We don’t have a website or do any advertising. Word of mouth has always been enough for us. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the monsoon rains are really heavy, and we have to move things around, but we take it in our stride. It’s a comfortable place to work, and we like being right in the middle of the local community.
