We are tucked inside the Siri Garments building on MG Road in Chikmangalur. Most people just know the building, so we don't have a big sign for RBK. You just walk in and find us. MG Road is the main stretch here, so it’s always got something going on. The shop has been here for quite a while. The wooden floors creak a bit when you walk on them. We sell basic everyday clothes, nothing too trendy or expensive. It’s the kind of place where locals come when they need a new pair of trousers or a simple shirt. The air in Chikmangalur is usually nice, but on MG Road you get the smell of vehicle exhaust mixed with the nearby coffee shops. We spend the quiet hours in the morning dusting the shelves and making sure everything is in the right size pile. We don't have a computer system or anything; we just write everything down in a big register. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a bit. It’s that kind of atmosphere. When the monsoon hits, the shop gets a bit damp, so we have to be careful with the stock. We use a lot of mothballs to keep things fresh. It’s a small, honest business. We don't put on any acts. If we have what you need, we’ll find it for you in the stacks. If not, we usually know who else on the road might have it. We stay open until late.
