Ayyanar Provision Store

Our shop, Ayyanar Provision Store, is over at 367, Ariyalur Road. Being in Kolakkanatham, things are usually a bit steady and quiet compared to the bigger cities. We sell the basic things people need for their kitchens and homes every day. It is a lot of lifting heavy bags and counting items by hand. The shop space is not huge, but we pack a lot of stuff into the space we have. Sometimes it is even hard to find things if you are not used to how we pile everything up. We try to keep the staples in stock like rice, sugar, and various dhals. The Ariyalur Road gets a lot of trucks passing by all day, so it stays pretty dusty out on the front step. We spend a good amount of our time just sweeping the floor to keep it clean. It is just the way it is here. Most of our customers live right around the corner in Kolakkanatham. They come in for a few things and usually stay to chat for a minute about the weather or the local news. We don't have fancy displays or those bright lights you see in malls. It is just a normal provision store. We open up early because that is when people need their supplies before starting their morning. By the time evening comes, we are usually tired and winding down for the night. It is honest work and we like it.
