Desi Gaay Gaushala

Our place is in Arani Manjur, right near the Big Bazar. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a gaushala because of how busy the area has become. You can hear the noise from the main road all day long. Desi Gaay Gaushala is where we spend all our hours. There is always cleaning to be done and the animals need constant attention. It’s not like a regular shop where you can just close the door and go home. The cows don't care about holidays or what time it is. We wake up early to get things started before the sun gets too high. There's a lot of straw and feed to move around, which is hard on the arms. People from the neighborhood stop by to see the cows or to get fresh milk. Sometimes we have folks who just want to sit for a bit away from the traffic. It’s a bit of a messy job, truth be told. Your shoes are never really clean. But we like the animals and we like being here. The area around Big Bazar is always changing, with new shops opening up, but we just keep doing what we’ve always done. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just have the cows and the daily chores. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and early mornings, but it’s what we know. We just try to keep the place running smoothly day by day. It’s a lot of responsibility but it feels right.
