Sri Pandi Stores

Sri Pandi Stores is located at 160 B, Kamarajar Road in Madurai. Being on Kamarajar Salai means we see a lot of people passing through every single day. The 625009 area is always humming with activity. I open the shop early before the sun gets too hot, which is a big deal here in Madurai. My routine is mostly the same every day; I move the display items out front and then start checking the inventory. We have a lot of plastic buckets and household items hanging from the ceiling to save on floor space. It makes the shop look a bit like a cave, but I know where everything is hidden. I spend quite a bit of time talking to the neighbors about the weather or the price of goods. Sometimes I just sit on the front step and watch the motorcycles go by on Kamarajar Road. The shelves are made of old wood that’s started to sag a bit under the weight of the tins. I don't have a computer to do the billing, just a pen and some paper. It works fine for us. By the time evening comes, the streetlights come on and the road gets even busier. I usually close up once the foot traffic dies down. It is just a basic local shop where we try to keep the things people use every day in stock. I don't really think about it much, I just get on with the work that needs doing every single morning.
