We are located over at Teppakulam in Madurai, specifically at No 159/4. It’s a well-known area because of the Mariamman Koil, and being near the temple means we see a lot of people passing through, especially during festival times. Even though we are a departmental store, we try to keep that local feeling. We have several aisles with all kinds of household goods, groceries, and personal care items. It’s a bit bigger than your average corner shop, so we have a few more people working here to help customers find things. The building itself has been part of this neighborhood for a while. We get busy during the weekends when families come to do their weekly shopping. It’s a lot of organizing and restocking to keep everything looking decent. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to manage with the generator, which is just part of living in Madurai. We don’t use any fancy sales tactics or anything; we just put the prices on the items and let people browse. It’s a straightforward business. Most of the staff are from around here, so they speak the local language and know how to help the regular shoppers. We just focus on keeping the shelves stocked and the floors clean for everyone who visits. It is hard work but we have been doing it for years.
