Kumar Crown Caps Industry

Our small factory is down at 24/21 Balarengapuram Main Street in Madurai. We have been making crown caps here for a long time. If you look at a glass bottle, that metal cap on top is what we do. It is a noisy place because the stamping machines are constantly hitting the metal sheets. Madurai is very hot, so we keep the big doors open to let the air in while we work. We have a small crew of local people from the neighborhood who know the machines inside out. We don't have a big corporate office; it is just a corner with a table where we keep the bills. Most of our work is for local bottlers who need a steady supply of caps. We spend our time checking the paint on the caps and making sure the liners are stuck on right. It is repetitive work, but we take it seriously because if the cap leaks, the drink is ruined. We don't do any big advertising. People in the industry around Tamil Nadu just know we are here on Main Street. We have our routines, like the tea break in the afternoon when the sun is at its worst. It is just a regular local industry making a simple product that everyone uses without thinking about it. We just keep the machines oiled and the production steady.
