If you go down Kamarajar Salai towards the Theppakulam, you’ll find us at number 67. We’ve been in this part of town for a long time, right where the traffic is always moving. It’s a busy place to run a shop. The heat in Madurai is no joke, so the freezers are the most important thing we own. We check them first thing every morning and last thing before we lock up. The shop is small and simple. We have the tubs of dairy-fresh ice cream lined up, and we just scoop what people want. There isn't any fancy lighting or music playing. You just hear the sound of the cars outside and the occasional temple bell. Many people stop by after they’ve been to the water or the nearby temple. They look tired from the sun, and we give them something cold to help. We get the milk supplies from local sources, so the taste is what people expect around here. Sometimes the floor gets a bit cluttered with empty crates, but we clear them out when we get a chance. It’s a real family-run feel. We aren't trying to be a big brand. We just want to serve the community on this busy road. It’s a lot of hours standing on your feet, but seeing the kids happy with a cone makes the day go by a bit faster. We close up when the street lights come on.
