Sri Sairam Public School

Gingee is known mostly for its big fort, but for those of us at Sri Sairam Public School, it is just the place where we work every day. Our school is located in the 604202 area, and the building is quite simple. We do not have any modern architecture or big signs. It is mostly just rows of classrooms and a long veranda where the students gather for their morning assembly. The sun in Gingee can be very bright and hot, so everyone stays under the roof as much as possible. We have a few yellow buses that go out to the local villages to pick up the kids. Those buses come back pretty dusty every evening. Most of the staff members are people who have lived in this area for their whole lives, so we know the community well. We do not have long meetings about big strategies or anything like that. We just focus on what needs to be taught that day and get on with it. The playground is mostly sand and has some swings and slides that have been used by many kids over the years. It is not a glamorous life, but it is what we do. People around town know where we are, and they know the Sairam name. We just keep the doors open and make sure the students have a place to come and learn their lessons every morning.
