S S Granites

Down at 34 Pudupettai Road in Kannamangalam, you will find our small operation, S S Granites. We have been at this location for a while now, right where the road gets a bit narrow. It’s a local business through and through. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning; we’re mostly out in the open air with the stone slabs. The work is heavy and the days can be long, especially when we have a lot of orders to get through. Kannamangalam is the kind of place where everyone knows what's going on, so we see a lot of familiar faces. The granite we keep in the yard comes in all sorts of patterns. We spend a lot of time moving these pieces around so people can see the different grains. It is dusty work, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the shift. We just try to keep things simple and get the jobs done. Sometimes the trucks have a bit of trouble backing into the yard from Pudupettai Road because of the traffic, but we always make it work. There isn't any corporate talk here, just regular people working with their hands. We like the rhythm of the day, from the first cup of coffee to the last slab we load up before heading home.
