Kundu Hardware Stores

Kundu Hardware Stores is located in the Hubli district. Specifically, we are in Post-Gourahati. It’s a bit out of the way for most people, but the locals know us well. The store is filled with all sorts of metal parts and tools. It smells like iron and oil inside. We don't have air conditioning, so it gets pretty hot in the summer months. We just use the big ceiling fans. They make a lot of noise but they help. The floor is always a bit dusty because of the goods coming in and out. We don't bother with fancy displays. Everything is kept in bins or on heavy wooden shelves. My hands are usually a bit dirty from handling the stock all day. We’ve been here for a long time. People come from the surrounding villages when they need something specific for their repairs. We don't have a computer system for the inventory. We just know where everything is. If you ask for a specific bolt, I can probably find it in a minute. We have a small stray cat that hangs around the back for scraps. It keeps the mice away from the cardboard boxes. The neighborhood is quiet mostly. It’s a practical business. We don’t spend money on advertising. We just open the doors early in the morning and wait for the customers. It’s a quiet life, mostly, except when the delivery trucks arrive.
