Leather Craft & Apparel

Our workshop is on the first floor of No. 186, right on Tumkur Road in Peenya's 4th Block. Being in Peenya, we are surrounded by all sorts of factories, but Leather Craft & Apparel is where we focus on the softer side of things—leather and cloth. It’s a different kind of work than the heavy metal shops nearby. We have rows of sewing machines and large tables for cutting hides. The smell of leather is something you never quite get used to, but it’s a good smell. We have been making apparel and leather goods here for quite some time. It’s a process that takes a lot of hand-eye coordination. We aren't a massive assembly line. It’s more about the individual people sitting at their stations, making sure the stitching is straight. Sometimes we get orders that are a bit unusual, and we have to figure out how to make the patterns work. It’s a lot of trial and error. The traffic on Tumkur Road can be a nightmare, but once you get up to the first floor, it’s all about the work. We do not have a showroom with bright lights. Most of our stuff goes out to other businesses or shops. We just focus on the quality of the material and making sure the final product is sturdy. It’s a decent living and we enjoy what we do here.
