Maikal Granite

Maikal Granite is right here near the bus stand in Shahdol. We spend most of our days out in the yard dealing with slabs and heavy lifting. It gets pretty noisy with the buses coming and going all the time, but we are used to it by now. The dust from the granite is just part of the job and it gets on everything. We have been in this spot in Sohagpur for a while. Mostly it is just us moving stones around and talking to people who stop by. Sometimes the weather makes things hard, especially when it rains and the ground gets all muddy, but the work has to get done. My hands are usually rough from the stone and the water we use for cutting. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just a simple place where we keep the inventory and handle the daily tasks. It is a lot of physical labor and staying on your feet. People know us because we are easy to find by the station. We just try to keep things moving and get the slabs loaded onto the trucks without too much trouble. It is a basic life here. We see the same faces every morning when the tea stall opens nearby. The granite sits out in the sun and we just go about our business day after day.
