Mowleya Garments

Mowleya Garments is over in Anupparapalayam. It’s a well-known area for this kind of work, so we are surrounded by other shops and small factories. Our place is tucked away a bit, but once you find the main street in Anupparapalayam, we aren't hard to locate. We have a bunch of people here who spend their days at the machines. There is always a lot of noise—the sound of needles going through fabric and the big fans trying to keep the air moving. We work with all sorts of materials, and you can see scraps of colored cloth all over the floor by the time we finish in the evening. It’s a busy atmosphere. We don't have a fancy showroom with mannequins or lights. It’s just a workshop where the actual labor happens. We’ve got piles of finished shirts or trousers depending on what the current order is. The workers talk and joke while they work, and there’s usually some music coming from a small phone on one of the tables. We take our lunch breaks together under the shade outside when we can. It’s an honest way to make a living. We don't worry about being a big name; we just care about getting the stitching right so the customers come back eventually. It’s a bit dusty and the building is old, but it’s our home and we like the community here. Most days we are just busy with the needle and thread.
