Narmada Engineering Works

We have been operating Narmada Engineering Works out of Plot No.652 in the G.I.D.C. Industrial Estate for quite a long time now. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a standard industrial unit, but we spend most of our waking hours here. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and there is always a layer of oil near the lathes. It’s noisy and hot, but that is the nature of this kind of work. We handle everything from basic repairs to making specific parts that other businesses in the estate need. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. There is just a small desk in the corner piled with old bills and sketches for jobs we are working on. Some of the machines we use are quite old, but they still run better than the new ones if you know how to treat them right. We usually get in early to beat the worst of the afternoon heat. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and we have to wait around drinking tea until it comes back. It isn't a glamorous life, and our hands are almost always stained with grease that won't come off easily. We just focus on getting the dimensions right and making sure the parts fit like they are supposed to. People just walk in with a broken piece of machinery and ask if we can fix it. We do what we can.
