Even though the name on the gate says Saint Gobain India Pvt. Ltd., this specific spot at Plot No 36 in the Gidc Mega Estate feels like its own little world. We’re tucked away in the industrial zone and the daily grind is pretty straightforward. Most of us arrive when the sun is still low and start checking the equipment. It’s a large plot, so there’s always plenty of walking back and forth between different sections. The Gidc Mega Estate is a massive place, and it can be easy to get lost if you don't know the plot numbers. Inside our walls, it’s mostly about keeping the process going. We have our routines and we stick to them. It’s not like those fancy offices you see in movies; there’s a lot of heat and the sound of heavy machinery. We have a small area where we eat lunch together and complain about the traffic on the way in. The floor is concrete and hard on the feet, but we’re used to it. We don't really have time for much else besides the tasks at hand. Every now and then, someone from the main office comes by, but usually, it's just us locals making sure everything runs. We focus on the physical work and try to get home on time. It's a lot of manual stuff and paying attention to the details of the day.
