Shree Jay Jalaram Ice Factory

It stays pretty cold inside our walls even when the sun is beating down on the Prakash Timber Compound outside. We are located at Plot Number 6110-1B. Making ice is a bit of a strange business because you are basically selling frozen water, but everyone around here seems to need it. We have these big metal tanks and the machinery runs almost all the time to keep things frozen. Most of our work happens very early in the morning when the trucks come to pick up the heavy blocks. These blocks go to the fish markets or sometimes to big local events where they need to keep things cold for hours. The timber compound is usually busy with wood being moved around, so there is always noise and dust outside our doors. Inside, it is just the hum of the compressors. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. There is just a small space where we sit and keep track of who took how many slabs of ice. Sometimes the machines need a lot of maintenance because the salt water and the cold wear the metal down over time. We do most of the repairs ourselves when we can. If you walk past, you will see the mist coming out when we open the heavy freezer doors. It is heavy work, lifting those blocks, and your hands get used to the freezing temperature. We have been at this plot for a while, just keeping the cycles going.
