Being at Plot 3454 in the Gidc Industrial Estate means it is never really quiet. We are right on the main road, which is good for people trying to find us. Crystal Chokdi is the main landmark nearby. If you miss that turn, you end up going way past us. The traffic around the chokdi can be a mess during the shift changes. You see a lot of workers on cycles and scooters heading to the different factories. Our building is just a standard industrial unit. Inside, it’s mostly just work space. We don’t spend much time on decorating or making it look like a showroom. The floors are concrete and they get scuffed up pretty fast with all the boots moving around. We have some chairs for visitors, but mostly people are standing or moving things. The heat in the afternoon makes the tin roof creak a little. We usually keep the big doors open to let some air in, though it brings in the dust from the road too. It’s a busy spot. Most of the other shops around here do different things, so we all just mind our own business. Sometimes we talk to the guy at the next plot over lunch. It is a simple routine. We start early because the morning is the coolest part of the day. By the time the sun is high, we are already halfway through the list of things to do.
