Running a salt business like Padmavati means we spend a lot of time thinking about things most people don't. We are based at Shri Arihant and we’ve been using Post Box No. 235 for our mail for as long as I can remember. Salt is one of those things that’s just basic and necessary, so our work is steady but rarely flashy. A big storefront for browsing doesn't exist here. It’s more about the production side and making sure the bags are filled and ready to go out. The air around here always smells a bit like the sea or the earth, depending on the weather. A small crew of workers has been with us through plenty of hot summers. It’s physical work and hands get rough after a while, but it’s what we know. Time isn't spent on computers or making fancy brochures. We mostly just talk to our regular buyers over the phone and keep track of everything in our ledgers. Sometimes the logistics of getting things shipped out get a bit complicated, especially during the monsoon season, but we manage to work through it somehow. It’s a quiet kind of life here at Shri Arihant, and it works for us. Keeping our heads down and doing the work is the main focus every single day.
