Mec Engineering Works

Mec Engineering Works is tucked away at Plot No. 4211, right behind J P Industries. It can be a little hard to find if you don't know the area, as you have to go around the back of the bigger buildings to get to us. We’ve got a small workshop that is usually filled with the smell of cutting oil and the sound of lathes turning. It’s a gritty place, and your hands are going to get dirty if you stay here for more than five minutes. We do a lot of repair work and custom bits that people bring in. There isn't much of a front desk; you usually just walk in and find someone at a machine. We use old tools that have been around as long as the building has, but they still work just fine for what we need. The walls have a few calendars and some old photos pinned up, and the floor is always stained with oil. We don't really do the whole corporate thing with fancy titles. Everyone just pitches in where they are needed, whether that’s welding or just sweeping up the metal scraps at the end of the day. It’s a noisy, busy little spot, and we are usually too busy with our heads down to notice much else going on in the estate. We like the work because it’s practical and you can see what you’ve made by the time the whistle blows.
