Our place is at Plot No. 285-2. It’s a simple shed where we do all our mixing. We deal with various dyes and colors. You can usually tell what we’ve been working on by the stains on the floor. One day it’s all red, the next day it might be blue. We have a lot of plastic drums and stirring equipment. It’s messy work, and we all wear old clothes that we don't mind ruining. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see a sample, we just show them the actual vat or a dried piece of cloth. The ventilation is important because of the fumes, so we keep the big shutters open most of the day. We have a small stove in the corner for making tea and warming up our tiffin. It’s a basic setup but it works for what we need. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of guys who know how to mix the batches. We don't use a lot of fancy scales, mostly we go by experience and the old containers we’ve used for years. It’s about getting the shade right. We stay until the last batch is poured and the drums are cleaned out for the next morning. It takes time to get the colors to blend just right, but we’ve got a system that works for us. We've been here since the early days and we plan to stay.
