Accura Scientific Glass Works

You can find Accura Scientific Glass Works at Plot No. 4522. It’s a specialized kind of place because working with glass takes a lot of care. The building isn't huge, but it's packed with everything we need. We have burners and benches where the glass gets shaped. It gets very hot inside because of the flames, so we have to keep the fans running all the time. The air always feels a bit dry. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. Most of what we make is for specific orders, so the shelves are usually filled with finished pieces waiting to be packed. We use a lot of bubble wrap and sturdy boxes because glass is obviously easy to break. If you walk into the shop, you’ll see people wearing goggles and concentrating hard. It’s quiet work, not like a metal shop with lots of banging. We have a small area where we keep the raw glass tubing and rods. Everything has its place, or at least we try to keep it that way. The floor is swept often because of tiny glass bits. We take a break in the afternoon when the heat from the torches and the sun gets to be too much. It’s a craft we’ve been doing for years. We aren't corporate at all. Just a group of people who are good with their hands and like working with glass.
