Ami Polymers

We are over at Plot 182 in the Gidc Estate, which is where Ami Polymers has been for a long time. The estate is a huge place, and it can be easy to get lost if you don’t know the plot numbers by heart. Out here, it’s all about manufacturing. You can hear the constant hum of machines from every direction. Our building is a pretty standard setup—office in the front and the workshop area in the back. We work with polymers, so there’s always that distinct smell of material being processed, which you get used to after about a day or two. It’s not the cleanest work in the world, but it’s what we do. The floors are concrete and the roof is corrugated metal, so it gets really noisy when it rains during the monsoon. We have a small team of guys who have been with us since we started. We don’t use any fancy management software; we mostly use logbooks and a few old computers that still work fine for what we need. Most days involve checking the machines and making sure the molds are set right. We aren't trying to change the world, we're just making sure the parts we produce are what the customers asked for. Sometimes we stay late to finish a big batch, and other days things are quiet enough to clean up the workspace. It’s just a regular GIDC unit, nothing more and nothing less for us.
