Zuri Hotel

Zuri Hotel is right here in the Dhenkanal district of Orissa. If you know the area, you know it can get pretty quiet around here compared to the big cities. We’ve got the 759016 pin code. The building isn’t brand new, but it stays standing and does the job. We spend most of our time making sure the rooms are tidy and that there’s water in the tanks. Guests come through every now and then, some for work and some just passing through Orissa. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually keep the fans running high in the lobby. The staff here are mostly locals who live nearby. We don’t have those fancy automatic doors or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever is behind the desk. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s one of the other guys. We have a small kitchen area too. The food is just normal local stuff, nothing too complicated. We try to keep the lobby clean, though the dust from the road outside makes it hard sometimes. It’s a simple life at the hotel. We check people in, give them their keys, and make sure they have a towel. Not much else to it. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy throughout the week. Sometimes on Sundays, it gets real slow and we just sit on the porch area and watch the traffic go by on the road.
