Vijayalaxmi Cold Drinks Co. is situated near National Highway No.5 in Badarampas Village. We are under the Hatadihi Post Office and the whole area is part of the Hatadihi Tehsil. Being so close to the highway means there is always a lot of dust and the sound of heavy trucks rushing by at all hours. We deal with cold drinks and it’s the kind of work that really picks up when the sun is beating down on the road. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we keep the crates and the cooling equipment running. We have a few guys who handle the loading and unloading when the supply trucks arrive. It’s hard work, especially in the summer months when everyone is thirsty and the orders start piling up on the desk. We don’t have a polished front office or a receptionist. Usually, whoever is nearest to the door just handles whatever comes in. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble to get the generator going so the drinks stay cold. That’s just part of the daily routine out here near the highway. We’ve been here long enough that the local drivers know where to stop when they need to rest for a bit. We just keep the bottles moving and make sure the accounts stay straight. It’s honest work and it keeps the village moving along with the highway traffic outside our door.
