Stores Executive

Down here in Dhenkanal, at the BRG Group of Companies in Kurunti, I am the one they call the Stores Executive. It sounds like a big title, but mostly it means I am responsible for a whole lot of stuff sitting in the warehouses. It’s an industrial site, so things are pretty large-scale. We deal with heavy materials and a lot of different departments every day. I spend my morning walking the floor and seeing what we are running low on. It is not a quiet office job. You can hear the factory sounds all day long. The air in Kurunti is different from the city, more industrial I guess. I’ve been with the group for a bit now, and I’ve learned where every single item is kept. It’s a bit like a giant puzzle that changes every single day. Sometimes the suppliers are late and I have to deal with the fallout from the floor managers. Other times, we have too much stock and no room to put it. My desk is usually covered in delivery notes and inventory sheets. I don't really have time for meetings; I am usually out where the materials are. It’s a practical life. We don’t have fancy carpets or anything like that. Just concrete floors and metal racks. I make sure the workers have what they need to keep the plant running. That is really the main thing at the end of the day. We just keep working.
