Being out in Angul, especially at Nalconagar, you get used to the heat and the scale of everything. National Aluminium Company Limited is a big part of the area here in Orissa. Our specific spot at C 215 is where a lot of the daily grind happens. It’s not a quiet place. There is always the sound of machinery or trucks moving in the distance. The air smells a bit like metal and dust, which is just part of the life when you work with aluminium. We have a lot of workers coming in and out, some in uniforms and some in just plain old clothes. The office part of C 215 has those old metal desks and chairs that squeak when you sit down. We spend a lot of our time looking at production sheets and making sure the shifts are covered. It gets really hot in the middle of the day, so we keep the fans going at full speed. People here are hard workers, and nobody has much time for fancy talk or long meetings that don't go anywhere. We just want to get the metal processed and shipped out. The township is a tight-knit community, so you see the same faces at the canteen or walking home after the shift ends. It's a straightforward life, built around the factory and the work we do with our hands and the machines every single day.
