S. R. Industry

S. R. Industry is situated in Purusttampur, right near Pandua Bazar in the Hooghly district. It is a bit of a drive to get out here, but this is where we have our setup. It’s a workshop environment, so there is always some kind of noise—whether it’s machines running or someone hammering away at a piece of metal. We have a lot of local guys from the surrounding villages who work with us, and some have been here since the day we opened. The roof is made of corrugated sheets, so when it rains, you can barely hear yourself think. In the summer, it gets incredibly hot, and we have to take frequent breaks for water and shade. We don't have a polished showroom or a fancy website. Most of our business comes from people who know us in the Hooghly area. The floor is usually covered in scraps and dust, and there is a thick layer of oil on most of the workbenches. It’s a tough environment, but we try to do a good job with the stuff we make. We don’t talk much about visions or missions; we just focus on the task at hand and try to avoid any big mistakes. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common in this part of the country, and we just sit outside in the shade until it comes back on. It’s a simple life, focused on production and keeping the old machines in working order.
