Gammon India Ltd.

We are currently set up at the Raghuram Cement site in Yerraguntla. It’s part of the Gammon India operations here in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. The landscape around here is very industrial with the cement plants and the rocky ground. Our office is basically a temporary structure on the site grounds. It’s functional but definitely not fancy. We have a lot of dust coming in from the nearby works, so we spend a lot of time wiping down our desks. Inside, you’ll find the usual stuff: stacks of attendance sheets, some safety gear hanging on the wall, and a map of the project area. It gets extremely hot in this part of the state, so we have a couple of noisy fans that run all day long. We eat our lunch together in the shaded area outside the main office room. It’s a hardworking environment where everyone knows their job. We don’t have much in the way of amenities. It’s just about getting the concrete poured and the structures built. Most of us are from other parts of the country, so we live in the staff quarters nearby. In the evenings, we usually just sit around and talk about the day's progress. It’s a simple life focused on the work at hand. We don’t have time for corporate talk or anything like that. We just do the job that’s in front of us. The work is hard, but we have a good group of people here.
