Orient Cement

Over here in Chandkheda, we are tucked into Gayatrinagar at the GHB blocks. Orient Cement is the name on the door, specifically at 236/1405. It's a regular neighborhood, so it doesn't feel like a big industrial site. We handle things a bit differently here because of the space. Mostly, we are talking to local contractors or people fixing up their houses in Gandhinagar. The morning starts with tea and a look at what needs to be moved that day. It can get a bit cramped when the shipments arrive, but we’ve figured out a system over the years. We don't have any big signs or flashing lights. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they live nearby. Dealing with cement is heavy work, so we keep things simple and honest. If a bag is torn, we set it aside. We don’t try to be something we aren't. Our office is just a desk and a few chairs for when customers want to sit and talk about their building plans. The sun sets behind the apartments, and that's usually when we start wrapping things up for the evening. It’s a steady life. We like the quiet of this part of town compared to the main city. It’s just us and the stacks of cement waiting for the next truck to arrive tomorrow. It's not a lot but it is our work.
