Zikra Hospital

Zikra Hospital sits right by the Murran Chowk Main Bus Stand here in Srinagar. Because of the location, we get a lot of noise from the buses and the crowds outside, but it also means we are easy to get to for anyone coming from out of town. People often stop in after they get off their bus or before they head out on a long trip. It is a busy environment, and our staff is used to the fast pace. The hospital itself is a practical building designed to handle the daily flow of patients. We handle a bit of everything here. Some days are long, especially in the winter months when the weather in Srinagar gets rough and more people fall ill. We don’t have much time for small talk, but we try to be decent to everyone who walks in. The waiting room chairs have seen a lot of use over the years. We keep the place clean, but it looks like a working hospital, not a hotel. Being near the bus stand means we see people from all walks of life. We are just a group of people working together to keep the place running and help the folks in Srinagar when they aren't feeling well. It is a tough job sometimes, but we are here every day. We usually have the radio playing softly in the office to drown out the honking of the buses outside. It feels like we are right in the heart of things.
