Sufi Cements

Sufi Cements is located on New Eidgah Road, right near the ICICI Bank. It’s a pretty easy spot to find if you know that part of town. The main thing you’ll notice when you walk in is the dust. Cement is a messy business, and no matter how much we sweep, there’s always a fine gray layer on everything. We spend a lot of our day unloading bags from the big trucks and stacking them up in the warehouse area. It’s heavy work, and your back definitely feels it by the end of the shift. We get all kinds of customers, from big contractors who need hundreds of bags to local guys just looking for one or two to fix a hole in a wall at home. We keep the doors open most of the day to let the air circulate, though it also lets in the noise from the street traffic. Being near the bank means there’s always people coming and going nearby. We have a small desk where we handle the cash and write out the receipts by hand. Sometimes we run out of stock when there is a big construction boom in the area, but we try to get more in as fast as we can. It’s a basic shop for a basic product. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make sure people have the cement they need to build their houses. It’s honest work.
