Mir Provisional Store

Mir Provisional Store is located in Kadalbal, Pampore, right in the heart of the Pulwama district. We are close to the main road that goes through Srinagar. The shop is a simple building made of brick and wood. We sell the things that people here need daily, like local flour, spices for Kashmiri cooking, and tea. The winters are the hardest because it gets very cold and we have to keep a small heater near the counter. When it snows, the deliveries get stuck for days, so we have to plan ahead and keep extra sacks of rice. We have some wooden benches outside where the older men sometimes sit and talk about the weather or the crops. The shop doesn't have any bright neon signs or fancy decorations. It is just a place to get your groceries. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. Sometimes we run out of change and have to ask the neighbor shop for help. We keep a ledger for the regular customers who pay at the end of the month. It is a quiet life here in Pampore, and the store is a big part of our daily routine. We open early in the morning even when the mist is still thick. The wooden shelves are old and have a bit of a scent of saffron and spices. We just do our best to keep the shop running for the community.
