Lone General Store

People around Ratnipora Pampore know the spot where we are. It is a simple place called Lone General Store. We stay here most of the day, from when the sun comes up until it gets dark. The shop is located in Pulwama, right at the 192121 pin code area. We don't have a lot of fancy signs or lights. It is just a counter and some shelves filled with bags and jars. Most of our time is spent talking to the neighbors who walk in for their daily supplies. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking back and forth. We don't really have a big staff, just us keeping things running. Some days the delivery trucks come and we have to move everything around to make room. It can get a bit messy in the back room but that is just how it is. We know which shelf has the salt and which one has the soap without even looking. In Pampore, people just want to get what they need and get home. We try to keep the place clean but the dust from the road always finds its way in. It is just a normal life for us here in Ratnipora. The building is old but it stays dry when it rains. We sit on our stools and wait for the next person to come through the door. This is how it has been at Lone General Store for a while now. We keep a small lamp for when the power goes out in the evenings.
