Baba General Store

Baba General Store is located right near Masjid Sharief in Pampore, Pulwama. Being near the Masjid means we see a lot of people throughout the day, especially around prayer times. It’s a good spot to be. We sell a bit of everything, from soaps and shampoos to small snacks and basic groceries. The building is simple, and we try to keep things where people can find them easily. I open up early and usually stay until the last prayers are done. It can get quite loud with people talking outside, but I like the energy of it. I don't have many people helping me, so I do most of the stocking and cleaning myself. The shelves are often full of colorful packets. I try to keep things that the local kids like, as well as the stuff their parents need for the house. Sometimes I sit on a wooden chair outside when it’s slow. The street in Pampore has a lot of history and you can feel it. I’ve lived here a long time and the shop is just part of the landscape now. It’s not a big corporate business, just me and my wares. I keep a close eye on what’s running out so I don't disappoint anyone who comes looking for something specific. It’s just a normal shop for normal people, and I try my best to keep everything in order even when it gets a bit hectic.
